ABSTRACT
This study explores how Benin City, Nigeria's urban design incorporates vertical gardens and green roofs. The study's objectives are to determine how widely these sustainable design features are used, examine their effects on the environment, and appraise their aesthetic value to the cityscape. Methodology: A mix of surveys, on-site evaluations, and interviews with architects, urban planners, and locals will be used to carry out a thorough investigation. The study will investigate how common green roofs and vertical gardens are now, their advantages for the environment, and stakeholders' opinions on their aesthetic contributions to the city. Findings: The research hopes to provide light on how green roofs and vertical gardens affect urban sustainability, including biodiversity, energy efficiency, and stormwater management. Additionally, information on residents' and professionals' aesthetic preferences and concerns will be revealed. Conclusion: Promoting ecologically sensitive and aesthetically beautiful urban design in Benin City requires an understanding of how green roofs and vertical gardens are incorporated into the city's architecture urban spaces. The research outcomes will contribute valuable information to urban planning strategies, fostering sustainable development practices and enhancing the overall livability of urban environments in Benin City. This study aligns with global efforts to create resilient and ecologically responsible cities.
