Issues related to globalization can hardly be discussed in isolation to language and lexical borrowing is a global issue. Since all languages borrow from one another to enrich it’s lexicon, the case of Urhobo is not an exception. The nature of this study is correlational. This study is aimed at the effects of globalization and lexical borrowing on the language and also determines whether the relationship that exist between globalization and lexical borrowing is one that is characterized by cause and effect or one that is characterized by the occurrence of both events. It also describes the forms of borrowing in the language, the rationale for borrowing and the donor languages. In carrying out this research work descriptive approach was adopted. The primary method of data collection is the face to face contant with the competent native speakers of the language. Secondary method of data collection include; journals, publish and unpublished work, internet etc. Also, we recommend that in as much as lexical borrowing ia a viable means of enriching a language lexicon, users of a particular language should standardize and popularized lexical items that are hitherto not standard.
