ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to determine the subsurface resistivity distribution from a 2-D imaging survey and determine the tomography /images of the study area.

Wenner method was used as a survey technique to give information about lateral changes in the subsurface resistivity, from these measurements the true resistivity of the subsurface was determined by inversion of the measured apparent resistivity values using computer inversion software (RES2DINV). This work was carried out at Oluku area in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The results show that the soil stratigraphy of the study area is mostly of sedimentary rocks with resistivity values of about 500-6980m in general, which reveals eight distinct layers. The survey shows that the lithology of the area is suitable for construction works like building and other heavy structures can be erected in the area, which can stand the test of time.
