ABSTRACT
The current study was carried out to evaluate the relationship between some breed of rabbit, some biochemical parameters and feed. The experimental animals were Dutch and NewZealand and Hyla rabbits. The design used for the experiment was Completely Randomized Design. Biochemical parameters measured where body weight glucose, globulin, albumin and total protein levels. The data collected were subjected to one way statistical analysis of variance. The results showed that glucose, globulin, albumin and total protein levels were significantly affected (P<0.05) by breeds of rabbits and type of feed. Mixture of concentrate and forage feed tend to improve rabbit performance than lone concentrate and lone forage. Total protein recorded in Hyla rabbits was significantly higher (p<0.05) than those recorded in other breeds of rabbits. NewZealand also had significantly higher values (p<0.05) for value of albumin than other Hyla and Dutch breeds of rabbits. The Hyla rabbits had numerical higher values for globulin (1.98) and total protein (5.60) than those recorded in NewZealand (1.85 & 4.69) and Dutch (1.85 & 4.40) rabbits. Dutch rabbits fed with concentrate feed had significantly higher values (76.00±0.56) for glucose than other groups. While Dutch rabbits fed with forage recorded the least value for glucose (74.33±0.33). NewZealand rabbits fed with concentrate feed also had superior value for glucose (75.00±0.58) than those fed forage (73.6±0.33) and mixture of forage and concentrate (73.00±0.58). From the results, different feed did not have significant (p>0.05) effect on the level of globulin and total protein.
