ABSTRACT
This study titled “gender inequality in Nigeria using female marginalization in Edo state politics as a case study” identify the gender disparities in Nigeria politics, explore the gender inequality in political participation in Nigeria, examine the influence of environmental and cultural factors in the participation of female gender in Edo State politics and assess the factors that affects the participation of female gender in Edo State politics. The study revealed that Nigerian politics favours male gender more than female. It further revealed that Nigerian politics is gender bias. Based on these findings, it was recommended that the national assembly should pass an electoral bill into law specifying what affirmative actions are adopted to enhance women's political participation in the country, it is also recommended that every national political party should reserve 30% of all elective positions for women.
