ABSTRACT
The study began with an introduction to the topic of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Upper Sokponba. The aim and objectives of the study were outlined, along with the scope of the research. The methodology used for the study was presented, including primary and secondary sources. A literature review provided insights into existing knowledge on the topic. Chapter two delved into the prevalence and causes of GBV in Nigeria. An overview of GBV in the country was provided, along with an exploration of sociocultural and economic factors that contributed to the occurrence of GBV. The effects of GBV on victims and society at large were discussed. The chapter also covered the legal and policy frameworks in Nigeria related to GBV prevention and response.
