ABSTRACT

This study was undertaken to find the fungi associated with Leaf blight of Khaya grandifoliola opposite the Teak plantation by the Vice-Chancellor's lodge, University of Benin. Isolation, subculturing and maintenance of isolates were carried out. The medium used was Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) and identification of isolates was under the light microscope. The symptoms observed were grayish brown patches that extended rapidly from the edges towards the centre of the leaves and causing the eventual death of the leaves. The isolation process gave one isolate identified as Rhizoctonia solani. Further works should be done to determine its pathogenicity and the best way to control and prevent its development.
