ABSTRACT
The research delves into complex landscape of feminism within the realm of African politics, focusing on Nigeria as a case study. With feminist movement gaining events across the continent,Nigeria stands as a body for both progress and persistent challenges in achieving gender equality and representation in Nigerian politics. Through a multifaceted analysis, this study examines the historical context, sociocultural dynamics, and institutional frameworks shaping feminist discourse and activism in Nigeria. The study aimed to identify the key challenges facing women in accessing leadership positions and participating actively in the political activities in Nigeria. It also explored factors that have contributed to gender inequality. such as; restrictive cultural norms and values, limited access to education and resources, violence. As well as the use of all forms of intimidation, and patriarchal attitudes. The study utilized the survey research design method, collecting quantitative data through the administration of questionnaires. A sample of 150 respondents were chosen across the six geopolitical regions.finally this information were converted into data and these data were analyzed using simple percentage as well as chi-square . the motive for using this method, is to show the relationship one variable to the other. The following recommendation were reached that legislative reforms should be encouraged, as well as electoral reforms should be given adequate attention in order to enhance credible and representative participation in women.
