ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at examining the factors that enhanced student teacher effectiveness during teaching practice. I chose the four stated objective Four (4) research questions were formulated to guide the study and to elicit information from the selected respondents. Relevant literatures were reviewed on the subject of teaching practice exercise, problem encountered during teaching practice exercise and factors that may enhance it's effectiveness.
The survey research design was used to carry out this study and a self-structured questionnaire was the instrument used to solicit information from the 150 respondents selected for the study. The instrument for the study was collated and analyzed using frequency table and simple percentage statistical tool.
From the data analyzed it was revealed that availability of finance enhance the effectiveness of student teacher during teaching practice exercise; adequate instruction on material enhances the effectiveness of student teacher during teaching practice exercise the co-operation between student teacher and permanent staff enhance students teacher effectiveness during teaching practice exercise; moderate class size enhance the effectiveness of student teacher during teaching practice exercise.
In the light of the findings, The following recommendations where highlighted that an incentive be given to student teachers during teaching practice exercise; the permanent teachers of teaching practice schools should provide necessary support and directions for practicing student teachers to enhance their effectiveness during the exercise; that Government and all education authorities should provide necessary instructional materials and incentive to reinforce student teachers effectiveness during teaching practice and that the classrooms in which student teachers engage in teaching practice exercise should be made conducive, spacious and less populated to enhance their effectiveness.
