ABSTRACT

This study investigated the factors responsible for students' low enrollment in business related subjects in secondary schools in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. The purpose of the study was to determine the students' related factors, teacher's related factors, societal related factors and government/school related factors responsible for students' low enrollment in business related subjects in secondary schools in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. Four research questions guided the study and a descriptive survey research was used for the study. The population of the study was all the senior secondary school students in Okitipupa Local Government Area and the sample was 100 senior secondary school students in the 2023/2024 academic session. Data was collected through the use of a well-structured questionnaire and the copies were administered, collected and analyzed. Mean was used for the data analysis. The findings revealed that students' related factors, societal related factors, government/schools' related with the exception of teachers' related factors are responsible for students' low enrollment in business related subjects. The study recommends that students should be oriented about the benefits of business related subjects to encourage to enroll in business related subjects, teachers should continue doing their job with all sincerity, society should change their orientation about business subjects to encourage students to enroll in business related subjects and government/schools' should endeavour to provide needed resources for teaching and learning business subjects.
