ABSTRACT

This study looked into the variables impacting University of Benin, Benin City, students' decisions about careers in public administration. The study's goals were to determine the ways in which family, friends, the campus atmosphere, and students' interests affect their decision to pursue a public administration career at the University of Benin. One hundred students from the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, who were selected at random from the 100– 400 level comprise the sample size. A simple percentage and frequency count were used to assess the gathered data. According to the survey, one of the variables influencing University of Benin students' decision to pursue a career in public administration is their educational environment. It was determined that a student's career choice in public administration at the University of Benin is influenced by their family, peer groups, surroundings, and interests. According to the report, parents and teachers shouldn't pressure adolescents to choose a career; instead, they should offer guidance on the career path they want to take. Additionally, it was advised that educators work to create a welcoming, instructive, and informative school atmosphere in order to support students in selecting the right careers. This included instructors and school counsel.
