ABSTRACT
The study was conducted to evaluate the influence of Trichoderma spp, poultry manure as soil amendment and watering regime on the growth of Moringa oleifera. The Trichoderma used in this study was isolated from the soil samples obtained from the Nigerian Institute For Oil paIm Research (NIFOR). The study involved four treatments (Treated soil+ treated seed, untreated soil +Treated seed, treated soil + untreated seed, untreated soil + untreated seed) replicated three times under varying watering regimes (watering everyday, every 3 days, every 5 days and every 7 days) using completely randomized design (CRD). Plant growth parameters measured are plant height, leaf length, leaf width, collar girth, root length, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight. The result showed that there was no significant effect of soil seed treatment and different watering regimes on growth of moringa oleifera. However, watering daily and Treated soil + Untreated seeds had the highest mean value for all the growth parameters and therefore, based on that finding, I would recommend that moringa seedlings should be watered everyday and further research should be conducted to ascertain suitable treatment combinations for growing moringa.
