SUMMARY
The prevalence of Infertility has increased of recent in the world especially in Nigeria and this can be due to age, increase in alcohol consumption, smoking, tobacco intake, exposure to environment hazards and endocrine disruption. Infertility has been reported to have negative impact on medical, psychosocial and economic wellbeing among couples. Male factor infertility is one of the major causes and more researches need to be carryout to reduce the prevalence. Thyroid hormones effect on spermatogenesis, sperm quality, sperm quantity and male fertility has been reported by previous researches. In this research to evaluate the levels of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) in males being investigated for infertility, it was found that majority of the infertile males that participated had low thyroid hormone levels with an increase in TSH and BMI, though some had normal thyroid hormone levels as well as normal TSH but they were not 96 able to cause statistical differences.
