ABSTRACT
Wastewater from textile industries contains high concentrations of contaminants which are hazardous to the environment and pose potential health risks to the public. With increasing stringent regulations governing wastewater discharge and greater quantities of wastewater being produced, there is a growing need for more efficient and cost effective methods to treat waste water. In this work, the application of egg shell ash photocatalyst for the reduction of textile industrial effluent under natural sunlight was studied. 700mg/liter of Malachite green was photo-catalyzed with eggshell catalyst ranging from 0.5gram – 3.0 gram. At 3.0g, the absorption rate of Malachite green was highest. This study shows an effective method to treat textile industrial effluent.
