ABSTRACT

This study purpose aimed to evaluate the children's programme content presented on ITV Radio. This study uses the Development Media Theory and Social Responsibility Theory as its theoretical foundation, a survey research method was employed, issuing 100 questionnaires to randomly selected respondents in Oredo Local Government Area, Benin City. Data analysis utilized simple percentages and tables. Findings revealed that while the nature of children's programmes on ITV Radio is generally suitable for children and socialization, there is a lack of diversity in genre and content to meet the developmental needs of children across different age groups, particularly those aged 13-18 years. Recommendations include upholding international standards outlined in the African Charter on Children Broadcasting, expanding the range of children's programmes on radio to encompass various genres and content, and encouraging parents, caregivers, and adults to be discerning about the appropriateness of programmes for children.
