ABSTRACT
Avocado fruit (Persea americana) belongs to the genus Persea and it is classified under the family of Lauraceae. The Avocado tree is thought to have originated in South Central Mexico, Central America and South America. Pineapple (Ananas comosus L.) belongs to the large genus Ananas of the family Bromeliaceae. It is an exotic fruit with origins from South America.The banana plant (Musa L.) classified under the family Musaceae is a tall arborescent monocotyledon with a false stem (pseudostem) consisting of leaf sheaths and an underground true stem (corm) that is able to produce suckers by which the plant can reproduce vegetatively .Avocado is known for its high nutritional content and health benefits, which are essentially due to the source of fat-soluble nutrients or phytochemicals Avocado pulp contains higher quantities of insoluble and soluble fibres. Pineapple is the common name for low-growing, fruit-bearing, tropical plants of the species Ananas comosus (also known as A. sativus) in the bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae). It is also the name for the large, edible, multiple fruit of this plant. It is the most economically important plant in the family Bromeliaceae (Bartholomew et al., 2003). A. comosus has long, swordlike leaves and the fleshy fruit has a tuft of leaves on one end as well. It is native to Central and South America. Banana possess healthy characteristics, it is the best rich fruit in minerals and vitamins with an enormous quantity of potassium. One banana provides about 110 calories, 3500mg potassium, 25% vitamin B6, 20% vitamin C, 14% potassium, and 14% fibers that prevent heart injuries, improve heart pumping and blood regulation. Propolis or bee glue is a resinous mixture that honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) produce by mixing saliva and beeswax with exudate gathered from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources. It is a lipophilic sticky substance collected by bees that has been used by humans for centuries. The organic compounds of propolis includes phenols,flavonoids and Terpenoids. The antimicrobial properties of propolis are effective against several bacteria, both gram-positive and negative, molds, and fungi (Gram-positive bacteria). Avocado pear, pineapple and banana fruits were obtained from New Benin Market, Benin city, Edo state. Raw propolis was collected from a beehive at Illah, Delta state. It was wrapped in several sterile black nylons as it contains polyphenols that are sensitive to light.
