ABSTRACT
This study examined ethical reasoning in relations to insider stock trading information’s use in Nigeria. More specifically, these sub-variables of ethical training program, code of conduct and ethics, ethical actions and placement of ethical officers were examined in relations to insider stock trading information’s use in Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for this study. The population of the study covered all active trading dealing members of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
“The study found out that there is a significant positive relationship between ethical training program, code of conduct and ethics and placement of ethical officers and insider stock trading information’s use in Nigeria.The study found out that there is a significant negative relationship between ethical actions and insider stock trading information’s use in Nigeria.
“The study recommended that the Nigerian Stock Exchange and dealing members ensure that they constantly and regularly engage in ethical training program, the code of conduct and ethics is clearly documented and well circulated, good ethical actions are rewarded while bad ones are discouraged and they place ethical officers all around the organisation that will uphold the standard of the organisation. This will ensure that there is a high level of ethical behaviour amongst these persons, reduced confusion in the event of ethical disputes, appropriate rewards and sanctions and ethical policing in the organisation.
