ABSTRACT

PCa mostly occurred in men within 60-70 years of age, and patients mostly presented at the healthcare facilities at advanced or metastatic stages of the disease, with several complications. PSA at diagnosis significantly predicted patients’ drug therapy. Patients had positive illness perception after intervention. All domains of illness perception were significantly and positively influenced by the pharmacist’s educational intervention. Clinico-demographic predictors of patients’ illness perception were drug therapies, alcohol use and Gleason score. High health-related HRQoL was found in over half of participants, and a significant relationship was observed among all domains of HRQoL. Disease aggressiveness, age at diagnosis and disease ill perception also showed significant relationship with HRQoL. However, significant predictors of HRQoL were date of diagnosis, drug therapies and Gleason score. All patients took ADT. Meanwhile, OTC drugs, herbal medications and alcohol were also observed to be taken by the patients. Therapeutic DTPs and patient-related DTPs were found in over half of the patients. High medication adherence was observed in the majority of participants, and family history of cancer was a significant predictor of medication adherence. HQoL was also significantly related to medication adherence.
