ABSTRACT
The study empirically examines the effect of entrepreneurship education on growth of small scales business in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Entrepreneurship education is essential not only to shape the mindsets of young people but also to provide the skills and knowledge that are essential to developing an entrepreneurship culture. Entrepreneurs in their knowledge and perception exploit opportunities and acquisition of resources in running business.
Primary data were collected through the help of a well-structured questionnaire of two sections which were administered to small scales business owners in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.One hundred (100) questionnaire were administered to respondents out of which one hundred (100) were retrieved from the respondents and analyzed with simple percentage and statistical tool of Z-test.
The results of the analysis indicated that there is no significant relationship between the level of entrepreneurial education and the performance small scales business in Egor local Government Area of Edo State. It was also shows there is relationship between government funding/policies and the growth of small scales business in Egor local Government Area of Edo State. Thus, the study recommends that The Federal Ministry of Education in consultation with relevant agency shouldreinvent the one-year National Youth Service as a period for putting into practice the entrepreneurship education learnt in the universities/polytechnics/colleges. After the service year,the corps members should be able to establish their respective small businesses instead to lookingfor white collar jobs that are elusive.
