ENCOURAGING ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A WAY OF REDUCING UNEMPLOYMENT

ABSTRACT

This study examined the encouraging entrepreneurship as a way of reducing unemployment in Egor local government area of Edo State. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, two research questions were raised and examined. The broad objective of the study are to determine the impacts of acquisition of entrepreneurial skills on reduction of unemployment in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, and investigate on the impact of entrepreneurship on reduction of unemployment in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study is of utmost relevance as it tends to fill the gap in literature by analyzing the impact of entrepreneurship on reduction of unemployment in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The researcher made use of primary sources of data. The primary sources of data include the questionnaire. In analyzing the data, the researcher made use of frequency count and simple percentage in computing the findings from the research. The findings from the study include that there is a there is a significant impact of entrepreneurship on reduction of unemployment in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that government should genuinely recognize the essence of entrepreneurship training, job creation and innovation to unemployment reduction by providing the enabling environment for the youths to be gainful empowered. Also, it was recommended that adequate financial, physical and human resources should be provided by various stakeholders not only for potential but also for existing entrepreneurs.
