ABSTRACT
The broad objectives of this study is to find out if employee empowerment serve as an instrument for job satisfaction in Nigeria public sector: a case study of Edo state Internal Revenue Service. The specific objectives are to find out if Recognize employees for hard work contribute to job satisfaction, find out if giving employees autonomy over responsibility result to job satisfaction, find out if providing employee with the resources they need result to job satisfaction, and to find out if Delegate important tasks to employee result to job satisfaction. The study employed the non-probability sample technique in selecting the area in Oredo Local government area. A convenience sampling method was used in determine the sample size of this study. Questionnaire is used as the instrument in this study to collect data. simple percentage was used to analyze the results obtained from the questionnaires distributed while one-way anova will be used to estimate the existence of relationships among variable. This will be enhanced by an explanation and interpretation of the data. This study critically analyzed the respondent opinion on the issue of employee emplowerment and job satisfaction in the public sector. The result reviewed that recognize employees for hard work contributed to job satisfaction. Find showed that giving employees autonomy over responsibility result to job satisfaction. Providing employee with the resources they need result to job satisfaction and also delegating important tasks to employee result to job satisfaction. The study therefore recommend that Nigeria public sector management should initiate a policy that will recognize employees for hard work and also Giving employees autonomy over responsibility could result to job satisfaction. So employee should be given autonomy over responsibility in the public organization.
