ABSTRACT
This study examines employee participation in decision making and organizational productivity. In this study, a total number of 136 questionnaires were administered by the researcher, and obtained 95.6% response rate. Data collected were analyzed with statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS) 24.0 using the descriptive statistics of frequency distribution of the responses and regression technique. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between employees' participation in decision-making and their motivation to perform their job effectively in GT Bank. It was discovered that there is a significant relationship between employees' participation in decision-making and employee job satisfaction in GT Bank. This study also reveals that there is a significant relationship between employees' participation in decision-making and improvement in their problem-solving abilities in GT Bank. The further revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between employees' participation in decision-making and better teamwork in GT Bank. In testing for research hypotheses, a positive and statistically significant relationship was found to exist between employees' participation in decision-making and employee motivation, job satisfaction, problem solving abilities and better teamwork at 5% value of significance. It was recommended that management of GT Bank should as a matter of importance take cognizance of the need to involve directly or indirectly their employees in the decision making processes as this was found to be a major determinant of organizational productivity.
