ABSTRACT
Culture as a universal concept has taken different forms of interpretation in social life acts. In an anthropological sense, culture is "the collective programming of the mind by which members of a group or social categories are distinguished from others" Urban culture on its own has had a lot of oversimplified and/or over time against one gender (feminine). As a result of this, feminism came as a movement of a woman to demand equality and justice, fight for sexist exploitation and oppression. The methodology of the study is descriptively qualitative. Yejide Kilanko's Daughters Who Walk This Path and Nawal El Saadawi's Woman at Point Zero describe how hard women have to live in a 'masculine world' and the challenges they face when they are sexually abused. The study provides an overview of the extent and nature of gender-based violence and its health consequences, particularly on sexual, mental and reproductive health.
