ABSTRACT

Crisis is an old societal issue, often resulting from unhandled conflicts or bad relationships between individuals, families, and communities. In Benue State, Nigeria, particularly the "Sankera axis" (Ukum, Logo, and Katsina-Ala L.Gs) between 2007 and 2015, the failure to maintain appropriate individual and communal relations and implement appropriate crisis management strategies has led to intermittent clashes and riots. The ongoing inter-community and intracommunity rivalries, as well as the emergence of powerful civilians armed with weapons, have also contributed to the crisis. Politics in the area is centered around political figures, attracting opposition.
