ABSTRACT
Salicylic Acid is a Phenolic phytohormone, this phytohormones plays a major role in aiding the defence system of Plants against common Plant diseases, Environmental strains, heavy metals, drought, temperature, light intensities and nutritional limitation, which leads to Oxidative Stresses. Antioxidants like Superoxide dismutase, Nitric Oxide, Malondialdehyde, Catalase, Reduced Glutathione, Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances, Glutathione Peroxidase present in the plants are synthesized in different areas of the plants, this antioxidants are localized around the area of infections and stabilize or deactivate the free radicals present into harmless substance, this stops the oxidative species from attacking cellular components which may lead to cell death. The Synthesis or treatment of infested Oil Palm seedlings with Salicylic acid partially restores the antioxidant activity/concentration of the plants at different levels.
