ABSTRACT
This study aimed at the effects of Watering regimes on the yield of Pleurotus ostreatus. The Spawn was prepared using 2kg of washed Guinea corn which was soaked for 24 hours. It was parboiled for 30 minutes, then air dried, Calcium carbonate was added and mixed thoroughly.The parboiled grains were filled in the bottles, then corked with sterile cotton wool and foil paper.It was sterilized and then inoculated with Pleurotus ostreatus culture and stored in the incubation room. In the preparation of the substrate,79%of sawdust, 20%of wheat bran and 1%of Calcium Carbonate were mixed together with 65 litres of water, followed by bagging the next day.The bagged substrate were pasteurized for 6 hours. The pasteurized substrate were offloaded into the inoculation room and left to cool. The substrates were inoculated Pleurotus ostreatus spawn, which was evenly distributed on top the media and was carried out in a laminar flow cabinet. 24 bags were inoculated and were incubated in a dark room for 4-6 weeks.
The fully colonized substrate were transferred to a room and was cut opened. The bags were shared into five treatments group and a control.
From the results,It turns out that the thrice daily treatment had the highest number of fruiting bodies (24.75+_2.21) and biological efficiency %(55.3%).It accelerated the growth of primordial formation compared to the other treatments.
