ABSTRACT
Recent research has demonstrated that disruption of the gonadal can impede the pituitary-gonadal axis hormones. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of bilateral orchidectomy on the pituitary-gonadal axis hormones. For this experiment, ten (10) wistar rats were used. The rats were randomly assigned to two groups at random (n=5 per group). Rats in group B underwent bilateral orchidectomy while group A served as the control. The experimentation lasted for a period of eight weeks. The rats were sacrificed at the conclusion of the experimental period. The rats were sacrificed under chloroform anesthesia and blood samples were collected from the inferior vena cava to determine the concentration of the hormones of the pituitary-gonadal axis. The generated data were analyzed statistically. Using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA; 95% confidence interval), it was concluded that there were significant differences in the means of all parameters. According to the results, there was a substantial decrease in the concentration of testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle stimulating hormones (P<0.05). The results of the study showed that bilateral orchidectomy in male wistar rats after eight weeks reduced the secretion of hormones of the pituitary-gonadal axis.
