EFFECTIVENESS OF INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PRE-SCHOOL LEARNING IN EKEHUAN ENVIRONS

ABSTRACT

The research was carried out to assess the effectiveness of inclusive environments for preschool learning in ekehuan environs. A sampling technique used was a simple technique and the sample size was70. Method of data collection was a questionnaire which was administered to respondents in order to collect information from them. The questionnaire consists of items that were raised from four research questions and was divided into two sections: Section A consists of a letter of request to complete the questionnaire, addressed to the respondent, while section B is the items developed for the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design, which aimed at investigating the effectiveness of implementing an inclusive environment for pre-school learning within the Ekehuan Environ. While there are significant barriers to the effective implementation of inclusivity in preschool in ekehuan environs such as (Lack of understanding and awareness about diverse needs, insufficient resources like funding, training, negative attitudes and prejudices within the community), the findings of this study shows that a higher level of inclusivity in educational settings would have a great deal of positive impact on the academic achievement, social development and overall wellbeing and development of children, especially those with diverse learning needs and would also help infuse the parents of these children into the learning process of their children. That way, the learning can effortlessly be extended from the school down to the home. Communities, parents, teachers, policymakers and government are therefore encouraged to provide an educational system where every child fits in and is well educated and catered for (even those with disabilities).
