Reliability was achieved using split half method and Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient of 0.78 was obtained. Data collected from the study was analyzed using frequency counts and percentage.
The findings reveal that the environmental education program at the University of Benin has significantly improved students’ environmental knowledge and career readiness, with a high level of awareness about sustainability and climate change. However, its impact on promoting behavioral change, such as waste reduction and recycling, remains low. While the program has strengthened students' problem-solving skills and leadership in environmental initiatives, practical engagement in sustainability practices is still lacking. The research concludes that achieving a more effective environmental education program requiresbridging the gap between awareness and action through hands-on learning experiences. The research recommends that future efforts focus on integrating practical sustainability initiatives, increasing institutional support, and fostering collaborations between universities, policymakers, and environmental organizations to enhance environmental responsibility and long-term sustainability practices.
