ABSTRACT
Environmental contamination poses a significant global challenge, with oil spills. This study accessed the growth response of micro algae Monoraphidium contortum and Dimorphococcus lunatus to different concentrations of automatic transmission fluid also to determine the inhibitory and stimulatory effect of automatic transmission fluid on both micro algae. The test concentrations were 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% which were set up in triplicates. Growth parameters such as % INHIBITION, YIELD AND CUMULATIVE GROWTRH were determined. ANOVA was used to identify statistical significance between the growth response of the different treatments. Results showed that % yield for M contortum was highest in 50% at day 10 and is lowest in 100% at day 10 while D lunatus was highest at day 8 and it was lowest in 25% at day 2. The result showed the inhibitory and stimulatory effect of both algae with higher concentrations showing significant outcome that lower concentrations.
