ABSTRACT
The waste management situation in developing countries is difficult. The underlying effects and causes of an inadequate waste management system in dormitories at the University of Benin were determined by this study. This study followed a descriptive research design using questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The study found that students indiscriminately dumped trash within the study area. The lack of a fixed schedule for waste collection in dormitories and low student participation in waste management are some of the biggest challenges facing waste management. Residential homes should be made aware and educated about good waste management practices to increase awareness of waste management, the study says
