ABSTRACT
In this research, two different vegetable oils were selected: palm oil and palm kernel oil. These oils were incorporated into the growth medium of Volvariella volvacea, and their effects on mycelia growth, colonization rate, and biomass production were assessed. The experimental design included multiple treatments, each involving a specific concentration of the selected oils. Control groups were also maintained, where the growth medium was devoid of any oil supplementation. The growth parameters were monitored over a defined period, including measurements of mycelia expansion and biomass accumulation. Additionally, qualitative assessments were performed to observe any morphological changes in mycelia structure or colonization patterns. Preliminary results indicated that the vegetable oil treatments had discernible effects on the vegetative growth of Volvariella volvacea. Notably, certain concentrations of the selected oils appeared to stimulate mycelia growth and enhance colonization rates compared to the control group. These findings suggest that the choice and concentration of vegetable oil can improve the vegetative growth of Volvariella volvacea, with potential implications for optimizing cultivation practices and yield enhancement. Further investigations are warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms through which these vegetable oils exert their effects on fungal growth.
