ABSTRACT

This study examined the qualities of concrete's workability, setting time, flexural strength, and compressive strength while partially substituting marble powder for cement to lower the cost of producing concrete. The research was conducted to establish the impact of waste marble powder on the workability of fresh concrete, to ascertain the setting time of concrete containing various percentages of marble powder, and to study the effect of marble powder on the compressive and flexural strength of concrete in their different percentages. The slump test, used to assess the workability of fresh concrete, the consistency test, used to assess the initial and final setting times of cement containing various percentages of marble powder, as well as the compression and flexural tests, were the methodologies employed in this project. The mixes were made by substituting marble powder for cement in amounts of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% (designated as M0, M5, M10, M15, M20, and M25, respectively). The marble powder was sieved before being added to the mixtures. A total of 72 concrete cubes and 12 beams were cast. Specimens of 100mm x 100mm x 100mm and 500mm x 100mm x 100mm where prepared for compressive strength test and flexural strength test respectively, after being cured in water for 7, 14, 21 and 28 days.
