ABSTRACT
This study examines the effect of human trafficking in Nigeria, using the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as a case study. This was done through the application of historical analysis which examined the historical antecedents that surround the subject matter under consideration as well as the evaluation of the persistence of certain historical events which are claimed to have exited humanity. The establishment of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as an agency with the constitutional responsibility of making, enforcing, and implementing human trafficking laws as well as prosecuting offenders in Nigeria is visible result of the global collaboration to curb human trafficking. The study therefore examined the historical antecedent that necessitated the establishment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons as well as the functions of the Agency in curbing the menace of human trafficking in Nigeria.
