ABSTRACT
Gongronema latifolium is a very common plant in Africa and all over the world, it has been used severally for treatment purposes in several deseaes including differnt types of diabetes. But more research need to be carried out to discover more of the effects of the phytochemicals present in the plant, some of the phytochemicals are, Alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, phyticacid, hydrocyanic acid etc. These phytochemicals are effective in the cure and management of severla elments round the world. About 20,000 medicinal plants has been published and there are likely to be many more plants (Udhudharaj et al., 2016). This research has reveled the effect of hydroethanol crude extract of G. latifolium stem bark on Streptozotocin (STZ) induced wistar rats, it was seen at the end of the experiment that G. latifolium stem bark crude extract was effective in the recovery of the induced rats when 200mg/kg and increased dose of 400mg/kg of the crude extract was administered.
