ABSTRACT
This study focused on the the effect of ethanol extract of S mombin leaves on SOD and catalyst activity in DMH induced colon carcinogenesis in Wistar rat. The findings of the study revealed that result shows that rats induced with DMH significantly reduced(p<0.05) catalase activity when compared to the control. And rats induced with DMH significantly reduced (p<0.05) catalase activity when compared to the control. Therefore leaf extracts of S. mombindemonstrated potent abilities to wade off oxidative challenges as described above and inhibit Colon Carcinogenesis. This could very well be as a result of its phytochemical constituents. Thus this S. mombin leaves should be considered for use in the suppression of oxidative stress in cancer, diabetes and other high mortality rate disease conditions.
