ABSTRACT
A study of the effect of detergent on Eudorina californica and Eudorina elegans was carried out for fourteen days (14) days. The study was carried out in various concentration 0%(control), 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% for each of the algae. The growth response were measured optically using 750nm on a 720 visible spectrophotometer and some physiochemical parameters were analysed using stardard methods. Descriptive statistics, inferential cone way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Turkey test using mircosoft excel 2010 and statistical package for social science spss20. Psysiochemical parameters such as temperature, PH, Total Dissolve solids (TDS), Conductivity, Turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), Chemical oxygen demand (COD) and Total organic carbon (TOC) were analyse using standard methods to determine changes in culture medium. There was inhibiting growth in the growth response of Eudorina californica across the different concentrations of detergent throughout the experiment and for Eudorina elegans, it was reveal that there was stimulatory growth in the growth response. This study reveal Eudorina californica cannot be use for phycoremediation while Eudorina elegans can be use for phycoremediation.
