ABSTRACT
Environmental degradation is on the increase in recent times and people are paying no attention. Environmental degradation is as a result of peoples’ negative attitude and lack of much awareness on environmentally friendly products. This research work deciphered the level of the peoples’ concern and their attitudes towards the environment. Data used for the purpose of this study was sourced through questionnaire survey of sampled respondents. Thirty-six questions were asked on wide ranging environmental issues. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data while inferential statistics were employed to determine the relationship between demographic socioeconomic status and environmental concerns. The analyzed data revealed no relationship between demographic socioeconomic status and concerns and attitudes of respondents. The recommendations based on findings from the study include regular raising of environmental awareness, enforcement of strict sanitation laws and encouragement of environmentally friendly products.
