ABSTRACT
The study examined the level of e-procurement adoptions and its impact on the performance of supply chain management in Nigeria. It specifically investigated the level of adoption of e-procurement, challenges encountered in the use of e-procurements and the impact of adoption of e-procurements (e-sourcing, e-tendering and e-ordering) on the performance of supply chain in Nigeria. The study was informed by both Transaction Cost Analysis Theory and Innovation Diffusion Theory. The Methodology in pursuance of the objectives, involves the application of correlational research design to examine the relationship between e-procurement and Supply Chain Performance. The population of the study was made up of all the 24 quoted consumer goods companies in Nigeria. Due to the small size, the entire population was examined with data collected from at least two managers each from the listed organization. A structured questionnaire which was subjected to reliability test was used to collect the needed information from the sampled respondents. The primary data from questionnaire were the basis of the data analysis. The research instrument was tested for reliability by computing the Cronbach alpha statistical tests. The data was cleaned and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics like means, frequencies and percentages were used. In addition, Pearson correlation was used to show the correlation between the variables. Multiple regression was used to test the study hypothesis. It was discovered among others that the level of adoption of e-procurements (e-ordering, e-sourcing and e-tendering) is high in Nigeria. It also found that e-procurements combined have positive and significant impact on supply chain performance. The major challenges encountered in the use of e-procurements are network problems, poor skills and competence of suppliers and poor network penetrations. Against these findings, the study recommends that suppliers and organizations that source for goods and services must continue to invest on training their personnel to acquire relevant skills to improve e-procurement performance. It is on this ground coupled with improvement in networks that key players in the supply value chain can effectively reap the benefits of e-procurement in Nigeria.
