DISTRIBUTION OF SOME MICRONUTRIENTS IN SOILS FROM DIFFERENT LAND USE TYPES

ABSTRACT

Micronutrients are essential for good crop performance. This study was aimed at determining the status and distribution of some of these micronutrients (Cl, Fe, Mn and Zn) in soils under different land use types ( Citrus, Teak and Oil Palm ) located at the University of Benin premises in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria Soil samples were collected from the three land use types at four depths (0-30cm, 30-60cm, 60- 90cm and 90-120cm) replicated three times. Some of the parameters analyzed for are: particle size distribution, pH, organic carbon (OC), total nitrogen (N), Available phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) sodium (Na), and sulphur (S). Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) while means were separated using Duncan’s multiple Range Test (DMRT) at P<0.05.
