Summary
Firstly, the project topic "Discourse Analysis on Market Bargain" is introduced, starting with language as a tool for human communication in the research. It also explained the statement of problem, research questions, aims and objective and methodology which is the mode of data collection. Secondly, the works of previous scholars was discussed, Stubbs (1995:1) says that the term “discourse analysis” is ambiguous, but narrowed it down to mainly linguistics analysis is so as to study sentence, above clause and study larger linguistics units like conversational exchanges. The research also talks about the following concept, discourse, discourse analysis, market, bargain, code switching, speech out theory, negotiation. Thirdly, the collated data was presented and this data presentation also reveals the discourse strategy on market bargain between buyers and sellers, which includes direct questions and answers, Nigerian pidgin(code switching) flattery words. Finally, my data was analysed using the speech out theory, which consist of how this data that were collected from the field and how they were analyzed.
