ABSTRACT
Digital Technologies are key resources in the 21st century. The smooth running in the operations of Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is now grounded in the use of these Digital Technologies. Nigeria is a country with a rapidly growing population. As the country continues to develop, it is facing increasing challenges as a result of climate change. When Digital Technologies are used as aids in mitigating against Climate Change Risks, it adds a new dimension of creativity and innovation on the part of the business owners/managers. It also accelerates economic growth and development.
The purpose of this study is to investigate to what extent the digital technologies are being utilized by SMEs in Nigeria to mitigate the risks associated with climate change. The population comprises of all SMEs in Nigeria and fifty SMEs were randomly selected across the country. The study is based on primary survey, online questionnaires were distributed to obtain quantitative and qualitative data from respondents. Multi regression Analysis as well as Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the responses.
Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that; there is no significant relationship between the adoption of digital technologies and climate change risks mitigation among SMEs in Nigeria; the level of digital technology adoption among SMEs in Nigeria significantly impact their ability to mitigate climate change risks; the level of awareness and understanding of the pressing climate change risks challenges does not impact the implementation of digital technologies in climate change mitigation; utilization of digital technologies has positive effect on climate resilience of SMEs in Nigeria.
