ABSTRACT

The interplay between folklore and didacticism has received scant attention. This has limited the depth of interpretation. This essay therefore examines Obari Gomba’s depiction of didacticism in the poems on folklore. The poems in Thunder Protocol constitute the scope of study, while employing textual analysis to interpret the poems. The moralistic literary theory is further adopted to underscore the various moral issues raised in the study. The following findings are identified: that the poet recognised two targets of the didactic messages. It further shows that the poet uses didacticism to equip the society. It concludes that the people and the leaders are issued various moral instructions to edify the society.
