ABSTRACT

This study assessed the antibacterial activity, mineral content, and phytochemical composition of Carica papaya seed extracts using clinical isolates of bacteria. The extracts were ground, macerated, and tested for both trace elements and major elements. The phytochemical screening revealed saponins, phenolics, alkaloids, and flavonoids in both aqueous and ethanol extracts. The antimicrobial assay showed good antibacterial capabilities, with a minimum inhibition of 100 in Staphylococcus epidermidis and 1.04 in Staphylococcus epidermidis and Bacillus subtilis. The study suggests Carica papaya seed has significant nutritional content and phytochemical components, making it a potential supplementary antibacterial agent.
