ABSTRACT

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is linked to elevated stress levels and metabolic changes that favor catabolism over anabolism. Serum has been used to evaluate the hormonal profile of individuals with congestive cardiac failure. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether the levels of cortisol levels had severity in congestive cardiac patients. I conducted a research to prognosticate whether the levels of cortisol will correlate in patients diagnosed with congestive cardiac failure and control patients. The hormonal levels were measured using immunoassay and the mean ± standard error of mean (S.E.M) was analyzed and the range of control (14 ± 1.28            0.246) and subject was (14.43 ± 0.94). The significance interval for control and patients diagnosed with congestive cardiac failure was (r= -0.011, P<0.972) and (r= -0.011, P<0.486) respectively. There was no significant statistical relationship between the level of cortisol in patients with congestive cardiac patients and control.
