ABSTRACT

Energy has a significant role in the nation's ability to expand its economy. We use it in practically every element of our daily lives, making it one of the most crucial aspects of life for humans. However, with the current industrialization, there is a need to update the systems that were previously used to track electrical energy for effective energy management.. It is among the most important things when it comes to the essentials of human day to day life, we utilize it in almost every aspect of our lives every day, and with the current industrialization there is now a need for how we upgrade the methods that where formerly used in keeping track of electrical energy for efficient energy management.

The challenge of supply and demand of electrical energy in different areas has developed the needs for proper management of energy and the prevention of wastage. Knowing how energy is consumed and utilized is required for knowing how best it can be conserved.

In this work, Design of SCADA based system for the remote monitoring of electrical power parameters. An analysis was carried by the team and it discovered the hindrances that came with managing electrical energy in a large area, using University of Benin as a case study.

The design consists of the use of a three-phase smart energy meter (XHD331-R), to measure the required data and transmit it over a large distance to a remote location via the ESP32 gprs module, where it can be received by a MODBUS RTU (ACREL ARTU-KJ8) and displayed on the screen of the SIEMENS human machine interface.

This will make acquisition of data less time consuming and for effective for proper control or management.
