ABSTRACT

This project aims to design, construct, and test a crucible furnace powered by diesel. The furnace will be used for melting metal in the Materials and Metallurgical Laboratory. The design of the furnace will involve the selection of appropriate materials for the construction of the furnace body, the design of the combustion chamber, and the selection of the appropriate burner for the combustion of diesel fuel.

The construction of the furnace will involve the fabrication of the furnace body, the installation of the combustion chamber, and the installation of the burner. The testing of the furnace will involve the measurement of the temperature of the furnace using a thermocouple, the measurement of the fuel consumption of the burner, and the evaluation of the melting efficiency of the furnace.

In conclusion, this project work will contribute to developing a low-cost, efficient, and environmentally friendly furnace for the Materials and Metallurgical Laboratory. The project will also provide useful insights into the design, construction, and testing of crucible furnaces powered by diesel.
