ABSTRACT

This project focuses on designing an Integrated Smart Inverter Battery Management System (IBMS) using an Internet of Things (IoT) device that sends data to Blynk, a cloud-based platform which in turn updates user’s smartphones in real-time with key data about their home inverter setup.In order to cope with the imperative of managing renewable energy sources efficiently, especially remote battery control and monitoring among others, this research presents an Integrated Smart Inverter Battery Management System (IBMS) design and implementation. Therefore, the aim of the project is to design and implement an intelligent remote monitoring system that utilizes IoT to monitor Inverter Battery Systems. This novel system employs Internet of Things (IoT) technology and a relay system to provide complete control over all aspects of solar power generation and remote storage systems. The IBMS aims to optimize these systems thereby solving problems related to effectiveness, dependability and user-friendliness thus promoting sustainable energy practices. Through the Blynk app on smartphones, users can regulate how much electricity they use. This is an example of an Internet of Things component. Depending on the battery voltage capacity, users can decide to switch off heavy loads while retaining essentials. The heart of the IBMS is an ESP32 Development Board acting as a central controller. This board includes an ESP32 chip for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth connectivity and a SIM800L module for GSM/GPRS communication, ensuring smooth communication between different devices over various platforms including mobile phones. The realization of IBMS opens doors for its integration into smart grids which could be a game changer when it comes to renewable energy management. The result of this project shows that the use of IoT with voltage and current sensors improves inverter systems as an alternative and green energy source.
