ABSTRACT
This report presents the design and implementation of a system that can detect the presence of cooking gas (LPG) in the environment using GSM Module as a notification system. The aim of this project is to design and construct a system that can reliably and efficiently send SMS to users if there is gas leakage in the environment. With the use of two Buck converters, the voltages required by the MQ-6 (5V) sensor and the SIM800L (4V) were obtained. This was done by converting the 8.4V supplied from the lithium batteries to 5V and 4V required by the MQ-6 and SIM800L respectively. For this project, the MQ-6 sensor and GSM module interfaced with the ESP32 microcontroller module was used to implement this design. Furthermore, C Programming language was used to program the ESP32 in order to facilitate the operation of the system. At the end of the project, an electronic system that can monitor the concentration of cooking gas (LPG) in the environment which also sends an SMS to the user if a leakage is detected was designed, constructed and tested. The detection system sends an SMS to three different users indicating the concentration of gas in parts per millions (PPM).
