ABSTRACT
Radio waves are produced by a digital FM transmitter using an LC circuit, an antenna, and a microcontroller. An alternating radio frequency current is produced by the transmitter and is supplied to the antenna. The antenna emits radio waves in response to this alternating current. In essence, a digital FM transmitter is a VHF Colpitts oscillator that can send audio to any conventional FM receiver. The circuit provides pure rectification because it operates on a D.C. source. A capacitor microphone on the FM transmitter is also capable of picking up extremely weak sound signals.
